Laser Cataract Surgery in Scottsdale, AZ

If you suffer from cloudy vision due to cataracts, Dr. Arora is here to help. All you have to do is schedule a consultation, and he will help you find a treatment option that’s right for your eyes. Take the first step in protecting your vision.

Laser Cataract Surgery

Phacoemulsification is the most common type of cataract surgery we perform. Dr. Arora uses a laser to separate the clouded cataract into smaller pieces and remove it from the eye. He then inserts the clear artificial lens to enhance eyesight. If your cataracts are in the later stages, don’t wait to seek surgical treatment to protect your vision.

How the Procedure Works

Preparation

Before the procedure, Dr. Arora will ensure your eyes are healthy enough to undergo surgery. He will also examine your eyes for any problems that could interfere. We ask that you bring a list of current medications to the appointment.

Procedure

Dr. Arora will inject a local anesthetic into your eye to numb it, so you don’t feel any pain. Dr. Arora will make a small incision—typically less than a millimeter—through which he will insert a laser. Phacoemulsification uses ultrasound to break up and remove small pieces of the cataract. Capsulotomy involves the removal of the protective capsule surrounding the lens. Finally, Dr. Arora will remove the clouded lens and replace it with a clear, artificial lens.

Recovery

Dr. Arora might advise you to wear a bandage or a patch over your eye to protect it from damage and accelerate the healing process. Patients can expect to experience minimal redness and swelling around the eye right after surgery. Avoid strenuous activities for the first few days after your procedure. You may also need to take a few days off of work to allow your eye time to heal.

Advantages of Laser Cataract Surgery

Laser cataract surgery has several advantages over traditional cataract surgery.
